What is the difference between an Intern and a Co-Op Student?

Although very similar, there are unique differences between the two positions. An Intern is a student who works for 3 months (part-time/or full time) around their academic schedule.

A Co-Op is a student who takes a semester off from school and works at Skyworks full time for 6 months, in lieu of taking courses that semester.

When are Internships and Co-Op positions offered? Is there a limit on how long an Internship lasts or a Co-Op student hired?

We hire interns and Co-Op students throughout the year for defined terms with specified start and end dates.

Internships:
  • • Summer — June through August

Co-Op Positions: We offer two, 6- month structured terms
  • • Winter / Spring — January through June
  • • Summer / Fall — July through December

What locations hire Interns and Co-Op students?

Skyworks hires interns in the United States, Canada, Mexico and select locations in Europe and Asia. The majority of our positions are filled at the following sites:

  • • Irvine, CA
  • • Nashua, NH
  • • Newbury Park, CA
  • • San Jose CA
  • • Ottawa, Canada

What are the qualifications needed to be considered for an Internship or Co-Op position at Skyworks?

Specific qualifications and requirements will be specified for each Intern and Co-Op job posting. Requirements that apply to all prospective interns and Co-Op students include the following:
  • • Current enrollment at an accredited institution pursuing a bachelor's, master's, MBA or PhD degree and returning to school/university following Skyworks assignment
  • • Legally authorized to work in the United States. Note: we do accept international students as long as they are able to receive CPT/OPT sponsorship from their university

Please note that students who have already graduated will not be considered for Internship or Co-Op positions.

What is the pay rate for Skyworks Intern's and Co-Op students?

All of our Interns and Co-Op students receive a fixed hourly rate based on their degree level.

Does Skyworks provide temporary housing or assistance?

Skyworks does not provide temporary housing. However, interns/Co-Op students are eligible for both relocation assistance and a housing and transportation stipend, so long as the distance between their campus/home and their new Skyworks location is fifty (50) miles or greater. The relocation assistance is administered through a third-party vendor who may also assist the intern/Co-Op student with finding a temporary place to live for the duration of their assignment at Skyworks.

Skyworks also provides a list of other vendors, who can assist interns and Co-Op students with finding temporary housing. Skyworks will not pay for any services rendered by these vendors. Any costs incurred are the responsibility of the intern /Co-Op student
